Liberated Amish continued

Hmm.  Not quite what I envisioned…

Perhaps a grape intervention?  Or a completely different setting?

Still too wild?

Too dull?

Other possibilities?

Better?

Best?

Time for some chocolate.   And maybe a glass of wine.  Or two…

Hi Erin, I love your blog…have been following you since I first saw you at the Inklingo website. I am doing applique also, enjoyed your tutorial on backbasting, and wonder if you do have a follow up for “layers”- thanks! (I will be posting my latest Inklingo soon, called cubism- I cannot believe how accurately and E A S I L Y it went together! fondly, Sandy

  • Michele:

Great blocks! I kind of like them all, except “too dull” is too dull.
Personally, I’d lose the purple sashing – those blocks are electric enough without it.

I think the Barn Raising or the last one (square on point) are the most vibrant.
The 3rd from last – square on point with streaks(?) – that also has a lot of energy. Would there be another strip of squares going down the other side?
Not much help here but the blocks are so great is almost doesn’t matter.

  • koren klein:

i’m with michele. 3rd from the last. square on point with streaks. glad she knew how to describe it in “quilting” terms. i was going to say the “lightning bolts” one :)

  • I like the third from the top and the third from the bottom. I like the purple, but maybe not with the piano key border? ….and I agree, a glass of wine or two will help you make the decision. It looks great!

  • Joan:

I am enjoying watching how you work out your work. Chocolate and wine – sounds really great :)

  • elle:

oooh, please pass the wine while I’m thinking. My 2, well, several cents. The piano keys goes with the first, the grapes need thinning in the second, the third is quite smashing, especially if some lines go off the edge. Too dull works but now the piano keys seem out of tune. ??? I’m thinking only one row of the diagonal in the Other Possibilities version with the squares continuing. That would be intriguing. Best is better but again the keys may need a little fine tuning. This has been a great puzzle. I’ll need to follow now to see how it turns out. Thank you.

  • Kay Taylor:

I’m really enjoying this. Your blocks are great and I’m really liking the barn raising setting – and thinking I might try something similar.

I’d lose the purple border and add (try) just a little purple to the piano keys.
