January Finishes

Most spam comments I get are deleted by the two programs I have installed to protect against such things. Every once in a while a spam comment sneaks through and ends up in the spam folder. Usually they are from a non-quilter trying to promote their website by commenting on one of my posts. This morning I found these two gems in the spam folder.

XeGemma writes: “I do not guess that every student all over the world has got a passion of comparison contrast essay performing! However, students ,which do not know how to write have to utilize help of distinguished media essay writing service and be satisfied with a result.”

RNOlivia writes: “When some people are stuck with term paper thesis writing, therefore I will offer to buy persuasive essay at some good custom writing service in such case.”

Hmmm. These are from the supposed “distinguished essay writing/good custom writing service.”  I do hope that “honest students” all over America aren’t paying for essays with similar English grammar.

Okay, on to the finishes! The first three are just to the finished top stage.  I don’t have a picture of the Orange Peel topper [Improved 9 Patch] and I’m house sitting so I’ll try to get a shot of that some time next week.

This little LeMoyne Star wall hanging, Polka Dot & Paisley, I made with the scraps from the table topper.  I watched the free Jinny Beyer episode on The Quilt Show and she demonstrated a better way [than what I was doing] to put together 8 pointed stars.  So, you know, I had to try it out.  I think I’m going to hang this on the wall near the sewing machine when I get it quilted.   This next one is a class sample.  I’m going to teach a Winding Ways class at the LQS at the end of February/first part of March.

I also finished putting the binding on three scrappy quilts.  I made a Scrappy Irish Chain quilt and two matching table toppers as leader/ender projects.  My friend, Stacy at Mimi’s Quilting Cottage, quilted them for me.  I’ve already sold one of the table toppers. Here is the quilt in all it’s scrappy, crinkled goodness…

Now I’m hoping for a repeat performance of finishes for February!

  • I had a couple comments the other day from someone in India with a website of something to do with working at home!

I never could make the Winding Way blocks where they consistently turned out. I do lots of curved piecing, so I don’t know what my problem is.

  • How and why do they post on our blogs that are not even on the same topics? I get lots of those on my garden blog.

I love your irish chain quilt. I am quilting one right now myself, but am loving the colors in yours.

  • I want to come to your Winding Ways class!! I love the colors in that sample top. Nice to know you have those irish chain quilts bound, I’m going to try to get you a couple more sent out soon….lol!!

ok, reading the “spam” comments, i couldn’t even figure out what they were selling! nice essays for college to get you a F, i guess :)

i like your stars! i’m working on perfecting my straight lines :) doing pretty good, ha!

  • Teresa:

Pretty winding ways quilt. I made one of these in a workshop once and figured out a better way of joining the two halves with that center piece, and now I can’t remember what it was. I think I cut that center section on the fold so there wasn’t a seam and that cut down on the bulk, but I cannot remember exactly. It sure was a challenging quilt to make, I do remember that. Your patchwork pieces look great and I can see why you sold one so quickly.

Love the quilts, especially the beautiful Winding Ways! I know you’re an Inklingo enthusiast so I’m wondering if you’ve tried the new Inklingo winding ways collection yet? I’m curious as to how they compare ;)

  • Oh wow! You know I’m mentally planning a Winding Ways projects from my most recent Inklingo acquisition. I just haven’t made it around to that project. But now that it’s possibly resolved with sashing (that could kill me) I think I can move on happily now. Especially after seeing how fun yours is. Wow!!!

  • …oh that comment doesn’t even sound right. “But now that the Cheddar Blocks might be resolved with sashing…” I should have added. Uh! Messy.
