WIP Progress Report #10

This is the last one of these for a while. *smile* This weekend is the wedding in CA and then Sunday I fly to OK for a week. When I get back, I’m finishing up Nathan & Koren’s wedding quilt top to drop off to be quilted, I’m finishing up the top for the musical scrappy, and I’m sewing the valance for my room. Then I’m done machine piecing for a while. (I’ll post pics as I complete them.)

I’ve left out some hand sewing projects to keep me busy. I’m a little bummed that I didn’t get the wedding quilt top done, but all in all I’m happy with what I have accomplished since I started the push to get some of these things off my list before packing in earnest to move.

  1. Valance – my room (HSY)
  2. Musical Scrappy – 76 blocks completed/23 more to go
  3. Scrappy #2 – I’m packing up the pieces for this one to finish up at another time
  4. DWR – I ended up putting this away also. When I get it out again, at least I’ll be happy to have all the arcs done.
  5. Nathan & Koren’s Wedding Quilt – 12 blocks completed/30 more to go

WIP progress report #9

  1. Valance – my room (HSY)
  2. Musical Scrappy – 76 blocks completed
  3. Scrappy #2 – still squaring up half square triangles for this one
  4. Goose on the Loose – DONE
  5. DWR – 5 of 40 melons completed
  6. Nathan & Koren’s Wedding Quilt – 12 blocks completed
  7. Oklahoma Backroads – Cutting and organizing scraps

Goose on the Loose I finished Goose on the Loose although I wasn’t paying close enough attention and sewed on all my small flying geese units going in the wrong direction. (Not that anyone would notice necessarily, I suppose, unless you were really familiar with the pattern.) I will probably add borders at a later date even though the pattern doesn’t call for them because it’s a small quilt without them (36″ x 48″). I packed this up with the rest of my “set aside” projects. I have worked on blocks for Nathan & Koren’s quilt. I thought I’d have the top whipped out in no time (like a day), but I was surprised at how long each block is taking. It takes about 30 minutes from start of sewing to ironing for each block and there’s 42 of them; so when I did the math, I realized that’s about 21 HOURS worth of sewing time. [sheepish grin] So I’m plugging away at them a few a day.

I should have more accomplished than I do but haven’t been feeling up to par nor sleeping very well because my sinuses are all clogged up. I finally started taking some colloidal silver and this morning I can feel my sinuses starting to drain. Hopefully I’ll get some energy back soon. My mother is [impatiently] waiting on me to finish up a few machine quilting projects before I take down my machine so she can put the house on the market. I need to get a move on. . . [sigh]

We lost a treasured furry quilt inspector this week

On Monday our beloved pet, Muffin, passed away. She’s been a part of the family for almost 15 years. Jessica with Muffin DD-Jessica was seven when she got Muffin. Muffin Muffin was the haughty queen of the household and the best cat we’ve ever had. She was never any trouble and always very neat–except for the two litters of kittens she delivered under DD-Jessica’s bed instead of in the nice boxes we’d prepared for her. We will miss her. Even Ludo is sad. Even Ludo seemed a little sad that day.

No matter where I lay my fabric

there’s Ludo [sigh]. I’m trying to lay out the strips and squares I cut up for Nathan & Koren’s quilt on the dining room table to put the fabrics together for the blocks. Each 16″ block uses 5 different fabrics. . . Nathan & Koren's Quilt Fabric Strips But wait! What’s that orange fluffy thing in the back of my picture?? It’s the mischievous Ludo. . . the cat who thinks if I’m laying out fabric, it must be for him to lie on. Ludo, the Mischievous “I’m here to help. Where do you want these red strips? BTW, I didn’t knock those other strips on the floor.” Ludo didn't do it “I’m sorry, is there a problem here?” Napping Ludo “Never mind. I’m ready for a nap.”
