Uh, oh. . .
I received the wrong item in my order from Hancocks of Paducah. The wrong item was suppose to be the fabric for Nathan & Koren’s Wedding Quilt–one of my WIPs that *needs* to get done. I had ordered the Oak Leaves and Reel Fat Quarter pack by Terry Clothier Thompson. I think it has about 48 FQs in it. I got the Oak Leaves and Reel Convenience Quilt. Definitely not the same thing–it’s like a cheater cloth panel thing-ey that’s suppose to make a quilt top that looks like appliqué. [sigh] Not at all what I had in mind for a quilt for them. Their’s needs to be something with a more contemporary feel.
I hope this project doesn’t end up being one with quite a story attached. I don’t need “one of those” projects right now! Hopefully a call to customer service tomorrow will get this all straightened out. Quickly!
WIP finish
Yay!! I finished Caddy Corners #2. This pattern is a Laps from Fats one by Ellen Replogle of Good Intentions. I’m adding this to my To Be Quilted list because I have the backing and binding finished for it also (2 things off my WIP list!!). I have an oak leaf/acorn machine quilting pattern to use for this one. Here’s a picture of the finished top:

I made it smaller than the pattern because I was using an Acorn Hollow FQ pack from Nancy Halverson. It’s only 6 x 6 blocks instead of 7 x 7. But a 12 count FQ pack works perfectly for it. It measures about 65″ x 65″.

- Valances – breakfast nook Going to leave up the ones that are there because I decided to use this fabric for valances in my room instead. (Hey, deciding not to do or not to finish a project is a perfectly legitimate and no guilt way to whittle down your WIP list! However, you should decide what to do with a project you’ve started and decided not to finish. Trust me, this frees up space and relieves more guilt. LOL)

WIP progress report
These are the projects I’m working on to get to the finished blocks or finished top stage before I have to pack up my quilt studio. I started working daily on 30 December 2007. To date here is what is done:
- Valance – my room (HSY)
- Backing – mom’s cabin quilt for summer (HSY)
- 9 patch leader/ender – 76 of 128 blocks completed (oops, I’m not sure why I originally thought I only needed 110)
- Caddy Corner #2 – 6 of 36 blocks completed
- Valance – my closet DONE
- Musical Scrappy – started
- Houses Wallhanging – blocks sewn together but needs borders
- Scrappy #2 – started
- Goose on the Loose – blocks need squaring up
- Backing – Caddy Corner #2 (HSY)
- DWR – sew 40 more arcs
- Valances – breakfast nook (HSY)
- Nathan & Koren’s Wedding Quilt (HSY – fabric should be here 1/8)
Here’s to a more quilty new year. . .
I hope. It seems I didn’t do a lot of piecing in the last half of 2007. I also didn’t do a lot of machine quilting because of issues with my quilting system. [sigh]
I don’t know if 2008 will hold more quilting finishes or not. Mom has decided to sell the house [she's never liked living here--it was Dad's idea] and I’m being led to move on myself. I’m anticipating having to pack up most of my quilt studio while the house is on the market. I’ve been working on a few (9) WIPs to get them to the finished top stage. Everything else–fabric, machines, UFOs–will be packed up. Eventually, even my machine quilting system will be taken down and packed away. [sniffle, sniffle]
I’m planning on only leaving out some handwork–2 Grandmother’s Flower Garden projects–so I’ll have SOMETHING to do.
